Being a career diplomat she started her career as Yugoslav diplomat at the Permanent Mission of SFR of Yugoslavia to the UN Office in Geneva. Later she was economic counsellor at the Mission of SFR Yugoslavia to the European Communities in Brussels. After the dissolution of Yugoslavia she became a deputy head of the Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to the European Communities. She also hold different posts in the Office for European Affairs in the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was also Ambassador of Slovenia to Belgium and Luxembourg, before becoming Ambassador of Slovenia to China.
