A journey to recall the Chishui Battle

This is the place where the Central Red Army had the most revolutionary activities in the Long March. During that period, the Red Army passed through more than 60 counties in Guizhou, accounting for more than two-thirds of the 88 counties in the province. The great Long March of the Red Army was witnessed by the mountains and rivers of Guizhou, leaving many unforgettable memories. In January 1935, the famous Chishui battle, in which the Army crossed the river for four times, started just after the Zunyi Meeting. It is deeply loved by Chinese people. What is special is that Moutai was drunk by the Red Army soldiers to celebrate their victory in the Chishui River Battle. It is also used by the soldiers to disinfect wounds. All these made Moutai have a special meaning to the Red Army. Therefore, Moutai could be the wine for state banquets. The exhibition displays the scenery of the Old Tucheng Town, picturing the revolutionary history of the Red Army. Praised as the “River of Heroes”, the basin is also famous for the high-quality liquor produced here, and has the reputation of the “River of Good Liquor”. Chishui River is an important waterway in northern Guizhou. With a total length of merely 420 kilometers, it flows through Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan provinces. In 2005, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the National Tourism Administration and other 13 departments approved Bing’an Ancient Town as a national revolutionary tourist attraction. It is a key project of the expressway from Gulin to Xishui, and one of the important passages connecting Sichuan and Guizhou. Datong and Bing’an are two ancient towns that worth visiting here. The two towns are the oldest trading ports in Chishui: Datong used to be along the main road leading to Gulin, Sichuan province for salt and tea distribution, while Bing’an sits beside the Chishui River and was also the salt collection and distribution point. Both towns have many traditional style buildings, which make them ideal tourist destinations." /></section><section data-type="text"></section></article>
